How to use a wireless mic with an Android phone
Most Android phones can record from a USB-C wireless mic, but many need one setting switched on first. Here’s the setup, plus the two fixes that solve almost every problem.
By the Mini Mic Pro team · Updated

First, turn on OTG
- Open Settings and search for “OTG”.
- Switch it on. It usually lives under Additional settings or Connected devices.
- Some Samsung phones turn it on automatically when you plug something in, so you may not find the setting at all. That’s fine.
OTG (USB On-The-Go) lets your phone talk to things you plug into its USB-C port. Many Android phones leave it off to save battery, and with it off, a plug-in mic does nothing.
Set up Mini Mic Pro on Android
- Plug the receiver into the phone’s USB-C port.
- Hold the button on the back of the mic until the light is solid green.
- Open your voice recorder app and make a short test recording. It’s the quickest way to confirm the mic works.
- Then record video in your camera app as usual.

If your video still sounds like the phone mic
- Disconnect Bluetooth earbuds or headphones. They take over the audio input.
- Check the mic isn’t muted. Flashing green means muted; press the button once.
- Try another camera app. Some phones’ built-in camera apps won’t switch to an external mic, even when the voice recorder does.
- Push the receiver all the way in. A thick case can stop it seating properly.

Questions
Why doesn’t my wireless mic work on my Android phone?
Usually because OTG is off. Search Settings for “OTG”, switch it on, plug the receiver back in and turn the mic on until the light is solid green.
Does it work with Samsung Galaxy phones?
Yes. Galaxy phones have USB-C, and many turn OTG on automatically. Test in the voice recorder first, then in your camera app.
Do I need to pair it over Bluetooth?
No. Mini Mic Pro doesn’t use Bluetooth. The receiver plugs into the phone and the mics connect to it automatically when you turn them on.
