How to use a USB-C wireless mic with a Mac or Windows PC
A wireless clip-on mic is a big step up from a laptop’s built-in mic for voiceovers, lessons and recordings. Setup takes a minute: plug in, then tell the computer to use it.

On a Mac
- Plug the receiver into a USB-C port.
- Hold the mic button until the light is solid green.
- Open System Settings > Sound > Input and choose “USB Audio 1.0”.
- In your recording app (or Zoom), pick the same input.
On Windows
- Plug the receiver into a USB-C port.
- Hold the mic button until the light is solid green.
- Open Settings > System > Sound and, under Input, choose “USB Audio 1.0”.
- Choose the same input in your recording or meeting app.
Good to know
- No Bluetooth and no drivers. Don’t use “Add device”; the receiver is a plain USB audio input.
- Only have USB-A ports? Use a USB-C (female) to USB-A adapter that carries data, not a charge-only one.
- Live calls and streams: it often works as a USB input, but it isn’t guaranteed in every app, so test before an important call.
Questions
Why doesn’t my Mac see the wireless mic?
Check that the mic light is solid green, then open System Settings > Sound > Input and select “USB Audio 1.0”. Pick the same input inside your app.
Can I use a wireless lavalier mic for Zoom?
Often, yes. Select “USB Audio 1.0” as the microphone in Zoom’s audio settings. Test before an important call, since live use isn’t guaranteed in every app.
Do I need to install drivers?
No. Mac and Windows treat the receiver as a standard USB audio input.
